Testimonial from Kingsley Theiber,
CEO

"The planning and development of a lawn bowling green at our sports club has been five years in the making. After securing funding to proceed with the facility, the job was put to Tender.

“Trevor Scott of Lightweight Structures made his presentation to our Board, and immediately impressed us with the way he made the process personalised & inclusive. When construction began, Trevor was onsite for the duration and was happy to make any changes as it proceeded.

“The bowling green was completed in January 2019, and from a standing start we have already established a membership of over 100 bowlers.

“Members are of all ages and abilities, as local schools are even tapping in and including lawn bowls as part of their sporting programme. This participation is only possible because the facility is sun safe (this is extremely important, given our location in Mackay).

“Our club is situated amongst the cane fields and is an iconic structure that our local community have taken enormous pride in. In fact, it is referred to as the "Opera House of the Pioneer Valley" and we are thrilled with the way it has become such a focal point for our community.

“It was a bonus that there was no interference to the running of our business during the construction phase. Trevor was extremely easy to work with, and the standard of construction is absolutely first class."

Testimonial from Russell Seymour,
Project Manager

"Our club was originally exclusively a Rugby League Club, and 5 years ago, we made the decision to diversify our facilities and install a bowling green where the car park once stood. The process has taken some time, given the scale of what we were undertaking.

“From the start, we found Trevor to be extremely hands on. He arrived at the site on day one, and did not leave until the project was completed. I am a builder myself, and I particularly appreciated having access to Trevor throughout the build as he is very approachable, honest and easy to get along with. There were just no dramas working with him.

“From a community point of view, I was impressed that components were built locally. We are now expanding our numbers and finding that people want to play competitive bowls on a first class facility, all year round and day or night. That is what this facility is able to deliver.

“As we are located in Mackay, heat and wet weather are the most likely factors that would prevent people from using the green, but that is no longer a problem for us. We are very happy about the sense of community that has developed because of the facilities our club can offer."
