City Memorial Bowls Club Warrnambool

Testimonials

“Our club is situated on the Coast, close to the highest point in Warrnambool (which is extremely windy). The main issues that affect the playing experience and enjoyment of our club members are the wind and rain.

“We believed that the best way to create a better playing experience for our bowlers, whilst remaining an outdoor facility, was to put a roof over the greens. In addition, we needed a roof that would span two greens.

“Immediately after engaging Trevor Scott, we felt a great deal of ease that we had made the right choice. Trevor was very responsive to communications either via telephone or by email.

“He always responded straight away, or as soon as it was convenient. When you are dealing with a project of this size, you cannot underestimate the value of personal contact.

“Trevor is the designer, builder and supervisor, and he was also a hands on worker throughout the project. It was not uncommon to see Trevor with a shovel in his hand! We never, at any stage, felt as though we were dealing with a salesman.

“Lightweight Structures’ part of the project was completed without any major problems. Trevor has a very calming, personale nature, and if there were any problems a solution would be immediately be sought and fixed. Trevor was very approachable, and only too happy to help even in areas which didn’t concern his project.

“I found Trevor to be a very organised operator. Timelines were produced and adhered to, and the whole project ran very smoothly.

“Now we can provide a facility for lawn bowls that ensures the game will go ahead irrespective of the weather.

“The second stage of this project is walls around the green, to protect bowlers from the wind. Initially, a lot of our members were not keen for the development, but now I think there is a great deal of excitement in our club for the possibilities this new structure brings.”

“Warrnambool is known as "Windy Warrnambool", and our windy weather impacts on both the opportunity and quality of the bowling. In addition, lawn bowls has traditionally been an older person's sport, and we were looking for opportunities to expand our membership to a broader base of players.

“To minimise the impact of weather, and maximise the use of our facility, our club spent around 18 months planning to have a protective structure built over it.

“Trevor Scott of Lightweight Structures was one of a number of contractors we collaborated with over that time to develop the complex, and I could not speak more highly of him. Our interactions with him have been nothing but positive, right from the start.

“Trevor responded to each and every query and issue in a timely and professional way. This was imperative to keeping the entire project moving on time and budget. Trevor was incredibly obliging, nothing was ever too much trouble and most of the time, he went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us.

“The addition of the shade structure and walls to our facility means that we can now bowl all year round, and for extended hours each day. Younger players tend to want to access the greens between 6pm and 10pm, and now we can also offer a more social atmosphere with food and drink as well.

“Trevor Scott has helped us to realise these plans for our club. He has been one of the easiest men to work with, and his input has been wonderful for our club."
